Merry Christmas 2014

From the Secretary

Greetings,

Well, here we are in December, the year at an end. Where did it go?  When I was a boy, time moved so slowly.  My birthday, July 4, and other special events never came quickly enough. No longer young, I often consider our Masonic ritual “Behold how swiftly the sands run.”

As I write this and take a moment to enjoy the Christmas lights on the Common, I would like to believe that 2014 has been a wonderful year.  I also know real life does not treat us all equally. Many have suffered the loss of employment, health, or the death of someone special. Not a good year for those Brothers and families.  We would do well to remember, as I still do from the DeMolay’s Nine O’clock Interpolation, that we are “Brothers of the helpless and suffering and rejoice in every call for the relief of pain and the alleviation of sorrow”.

So as those of us fortunate to enjoy this special time of year, let us strive to remember our Scottish Rite vision statement;

“We will strive to be a fraternity that fulfills our Masonic obligation to
care for its members”

On behalf of the Valley Office staff; Dave Abbott, Paul Rolston, Kara Ruggieri, and me, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and health and happiness to you and your loved ones in 2015.

Cordially and fraternally,
Ken
