A Message From the Secretary

Hi Brethren,

Normally, Scottish Rite gears up slowly with Labor Day easing all the bodies into rehearsals in October in anticipation of our November Class. This year, however, Labor Day was September 1st. For the following three days, the Presiding Officers were meeting and rehearsals were in full swing. We are in second gear already!

You may be aware that Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection is performing the play Treason Against the Crown for the September Lodges of Instruction in Boston (9/24) and Brockton (9/25). These presentations are to promote membership for the Valley Fall Class. If you haven’t seen this play and life allows you, attend. The play is compact and enjoyable, and you can be certain of excellent performances by our Lodge of Perfection. This is also a good way to promote Scottish Rite with a member of your lodge who does not yet belong to the Valley.

Also this month Massachusetts Consistory is taking the Woodchoppers 22° degree to Illinois to the Supreme Council, 33° Membership Seminar being hosted by the Valley of Chicago. This degree has been wonderfully received in Valleys throughout New England and their performance is now being recognized on a jurisdictional level. Congratulations to them!

Take this month’s events, add 29 rehearsals for the November 1st Fall Reunion and you’ll understand why I say the Valley of Boston is in high gear for another vibrant Scottish Rite year…

Lot’s happening, I love it!

Ill
∴ Kenneth Scott, 33º

Valley Secretary

Treason's â€‹Stage is Set for Boston Lafayette

The officers of Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection, have been working tirelessly for the past month rehearsing for their production of Treason Against the British Crown. They plan to answer a question that could have changed the fate of these United States: what if George Washington was captured during the Revolutionary War and brought to trial in a British court?

Join Thrice Potent Master, David Elsner, on either Wednesday, September 24, or Thursday, September 25. Performances will take place at Grand Lodge and the Brockton Masonic Building, respectively.

Consistory Supports Illinois Lodge

Norfolk Lodge A.F. & A.M., in conjunction with Massachusetts Consistory, hosted Illumination Lodge No. 5 from Bloomingdale, Illinois for a third degree on Saturday, September 13, 2014. It was held at the Armory of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, located at Faneuil Hall. The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts is the oldest chartered military organization in the western hemisphere. Its charter was granted in March of 1638 by the Great and General Court of Massachusetts Bay and signed by Governor John Winthrop.
