Why the Valley of Boston?

Once a man has made the decision to become a member of Scottish Rite, his next question becomes: which Valley do I join? Many men will often want to belong to a Valley that is close to home or has their friends and family in it. Others will be attracted to a Valley based on its history, brotherhood, and philanthropic activities. If you come across a brother who is looking to join Scottish Rite but is unsure about which Valley, make sure you speak highly of the Valley you proudly belong to.

History
The history of a Valley can be a real positive for some men. The heritage and prestige of the Valley of Boston shows a track record for excellence and the foundation for future successes. Did you know that this Valley is the oldest in Massachusetts? It is also the third oldest active valley within the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. Your degrees teams are highly renowned and sought after across Supreme Council; traveling from Maine to Chicago to perform for members young and old.

Brotherhood
The comradery that a valley displays makes it more inviting to potential members. The Valley of Boston encompasses nearly sixty-five cities and towns around Boston. This almost guarantees that a brother looking to join will know someone from either his blue lodge or his district. Those that he meets will be close to home and share a brotherhood that is unique to the Valley of Boston.

Family Life
One of the most important things in a man’s life is his family. Scottish Rite is always looking to involve and engage your family with multiple events a year that you can bring your family to. The Family Life Committee works diligently to provide opportunities like Celtics games, Six Flags trips, and wine tasting.

Giving Back
Philanthropy is one of the driving forces of our fraternity. The ability to better ourselves while giving back to those around us is a treasure. The Valley of Boston is very active in the support of our philanthropies. One of the most important is the sponsorship of the Teddy Bear Classic, a golf tournament held each year in support of the Children’s Dyslexia Centers. Others include the National Heritage Museum and the Abbott Scholarship.

Make sure you use your SPAM when talking about your Valley!
