Valley Starts Almoner's Fund

Valley of Boston brethren know that charity is one of the greatest virtues of the Masonic Fraternity. Members can practice this virtue through the Valley of Boston Almoner's Fund

This year, the Valley of Boston established an Almoner's Fund to assist distressed Scottish Rite Masons and their loved ones. Thanks to the support of the membership, there has been a great start to the fund. Even in this harsh economy, many members donated modest amounts.

Donations can be made by members to the Valley Almoner's Fund at any time or via dues payments, annual appeals, and other gifts. Donations keep the Valley of Boston Almoner's Fund replenished and ready to assist distressed worthy Scottish Rite Masons and their loved ones.

New Venerable Master Installed

On November 30, 2013, Massachusetts Chapter Knights of St. Andrew held the Feast of St. Andrew. This is an event where the Knights of St. Andrew welcome new members to their ranks and install a new Venerable Master. Under the direction of Ill∴ Bro. Roach, 33o, the Knights welcomed 55 new Novitiates. Ill∴ Bro. Roach also had the pleasure to install his successor, Bro. John S. Mitchell, as the new Venerable Master of Massachusetts Chapter Knights of St. Andrew.

In May of 2010, Bro. Mitchell was raised in Winslow Lewis Lodge in Boston, MA. He served Winslow Lewis Lodge as Junior Steward in 2012 and Senior Steward in 2013. In addition, he affiliated with Simonds Lodge in Burlington, MA in 2012.

Bro. Mitchell became a member of the Valley of Boston in April of 2011. He belongs to all four bodies of the Valley of Boston. Within the Valley of Boston, he is a member of the Massachusetts Consistory Guard and Knights of St. Andrew. Despite only joining the Craft a short time ago, Bro. Mitchell has been an active member in his lodge and the Valley of Boston.

Valley of Boston Member Spotlight

The Valley of Boston recently interviewed a degree worker from Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection. Can you identify him in the picture to the left? Here is a hint; he plays the organ. The Brother in the picture is Herbert W. Mower.

We asked Bro. Mower what he likes most about being a degree worker in the Lodge of Perfection. Bro. Mower stated that he enjoys the cast and crew party, worker’s party, and most of all the weekend long officers retreat. He suggests that other Scottish Rite Masons become active in Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection to enjoy these benefits and the brotherhood that comes with it.

We want you, the members, to share with us what you enjoy most about the Valley of Boston. In return, we will show our appreciation for the work done on behalf of the Valley by sharing the work with each of you. This is just another way that the Valley can show appreciation for the work their members do. If you wish to be the next member featured in the spotlight in January, we request that you fill out the inquiry form for us to contact you.
