Passport Musings #3

Q: Which are your most memorable trips?

A: Speaking just for Scottish Rite trips, I recall countless memorable ones, and for many different reasons. Some were for spectacular scenery on the way, like driving through the Green Mountains on a perfect spring day (Burlington, VT). Others were for the significant Presidential history that surrounded a city (Springfield, IL). Some were for incredible Lodge rooms and priceless artifacts (Albany, NY; New York City). Others were for the degree work (Harrisburg, PA; Boston, MA). And some were for including presentations that hit home, like the photos shown from the immediate area of the NJ and NYC coastline following Hurricane Sandy (Valley of Northern NJ).

Q: What are your future goals in Scottish Rite?

A: This is a loaded question. Simply put, I hope to act in more degrees, travel to new Valleys, and strengthen the NMJ by being a strong Ambassador.

Q: Which degrees have you been in?

A: I’ve had small parts in Degrees 16 and 31. I’ve joined the Princes of Jerusalem in Boston and will be in the degree work this fall. I also hope to assist by taking a role or two in Nashua.

Q: Any particular Valleys you intend to visit in the future?

A: Yes, at the top of the list are two: The Valley of Indianapolis and ironically enough, the Valley of Philadelphia. I just haven’t been able to schedule Philly. I also hope to visit Bay City, MI, the Valley of Wilmington, DE and somewhere in Ohio. Then I’ll have visited all 15 NMJ states. Once I’ve visited these places, I’d like to head down to Oklahoma in the SMJ for the two-day class they put on.

Q: What are you going to do to strengthen the NMJ?

Check back next week to see the continuing story of Bro. Narkunas' adventures in the Rite!
